Xbox Cloud Gaming to Soon Support Streaming for All Owned Games
Microsoft to Expand Xbox Cloud Gaming: Stream Any Game You Own
Microsoft is set to enhance Xbox Cloud Gaming by allowing users to stream any game they own, rather than limiting it to a pre-selected library of Xbox Game Pass titles. According to The Verge, this significant cloud gaming update will roll out in November, initially for Xbox Insiders as part of “Project Lapland.” This means the availability of streamable titles will expand from hundreds to thousands of Xbox games, giving players more flexibility.
The change is expected to boost Xbox’s game streaming services, pushing it further into competition with other major players like Nvidia GeForce Now. Unlike GeForce Now, which requires game ownership through certain platforms, Xbox’s new streaming model will let users stream any Xbox game they own—directly from their digital library.
In addition, Microsoft will make further strides into mobile gaming. Starting in November, players will be able to purchase and play Xbox games on Android, and ideally, these titles will be cloud streamable even if they’re not part of the current Xbox Cloud Gaming library.
This move positions Xbox to offer a more comprehensive cloud gaming solution as it seeks to improve both streaming quality and accessibility. If successful, this expansion could give Xbox an edge over Nvidia in the competitive game streaming market.
